What people say: how can I stop my mother from being an alcoholic?
Alas, it's almost impossible to help an alcoholic unless they first want to help themselves. Try to catch them at a sober moment and tell your mother how you feel. Be caring and concerned, not accusatory. If your mother realizes that she has a problem and feels that she needs to change, be supportive and provide lots of positive compliments and encouragements when she is sober. Enlist help from other family and friends. If all fails, keep your mother at a distance.
